"You have to choose between moving forward, or staying in the past, Cosmos."
Safety is a film concept about Cosmos, a boy who wants to escape reality through means of virtual reality in order to find comfort, peace, and safety after the heart-breaking loss of his best friend, Aster. Along his journey to accepting this loss, he finds Blossom, who shows him what the metaverse is all about and ultimately brings euphoria. That is until Cosmos realizes this isn't what he wants anymore, and stumbles across other obstacles which catch him in a dilemma: deciding whether or not he wants to stay, or leave the metaverse.
Mainly inspired by acloudyskye's discography: Safety! which follows Cosmos and his story about losing his best friend Aster and asking if there could have been something he could have done to not lose him, and Spells which follows Aster's story about him wanting to know that he's still there for Cosmos, asking the question would you still know me even if I died?
Safety is all about one's journey to acceptance. One must accept the truth that our loved ones do not live forever. They will always live in our hearts, and will forever be a part of us.
Cosmos' backstory: A heart-broken person around the age of 23 who lost his best friend Aster due to unknown circumstances. Cosmos finds that the only way to escape the heartache is through traveling to the other side, aka the VR universe which offers him the value of escaping reality. Cosmos was brought in the VR universe with the special power to access different worlds within the realms of VR. His power derives from his desire to search for Aster. For Trailer purposes, this power won't be relevant.
Blossom's backstory: A young-minded girl around the age of 20 when she meets Cosmos, who has dealt with years of parental abuse. She loves the VR universe and never wants to go back to reality. She has been in the VR universe since she was 6. She ends up growing a connection with Cosmos and feels hurt when he wants to leave the VR Universe. She was brought into the VR universe with the special power to turn invisible as well as other people invisible as long as she held their hand. Her power derives from her desire to disappear from her parents. For trailer purposes, this backstory won't really be relevant.
Aster's Backstory: A young, twin-flame of Cosmos. Aster was a couple years older than Cosmos, acting almost like a big brother to him. He was Cosmos best friend and always was there for him at his darkest moments. He was ultimately Cosmos source of comfort when Cosmos felt overwhelmed and needed someone to lean on. Aster is extremely kind, passionate, and spirited.
